We’ve got Mixability! At The Mix Dating, safety is our top priority. We have measures in place to ensure a safe environment for all. The following are some key safety factors to consider when online dating:
- Be cautious of all requests for money, even if the person tells you that there is an emergency! Never share your social security number or credit card number.
- Be cautious with sharing your street address, personal phone number or work place information. Don’t do it right away and if you’re unsure, ask a friend, family member, or us!
- Never send or request nude pictures.
- Keep all communication within the platform for several interactions until you decide if you want to continue talking or connect in person.
Once you are ready to take the next steps and meet your person offline the following safety factors should be put in place:
- When setting up a location for a first date, make sure it is a public location that you feel comfortable with.
- Let a friend or family member know the details of your date, including who, what, where and when.
- Be sure to have your cell phone with you and fully charged. Also, consider checking in with your friend or family member periodically throughout the date.
- Drive yourself to and from the date or arrange for a friend or family member to drive you. Never get in the car with someone you just met!
- Limit alcohol consumption, if you choose to drink.
By prioritizing these safety factors you will increase the likelihood of a positive and safe experience. Additionally, our Mixologists (experienced dating coaches) can provide guidance, advice and strategies. If you feel like you need more support in this area, schedule a session with one of our Mixologists. Our Mixologists will educate you about common red flags, warning signs of abusive behavior and how to spot potentially unsafe situations. Mixologists can help support you with setting boundaries and communicating those boundaries effectively to potential partners. Mixologists can review profiles and provide feedback, work with you to develop personalized safety plans for first dates and most importantly empower you to make informed decisions and advocate for your own safety throughout the dating process.
